Once per day, a World Boss spawns at a set time. The World Boss is picked at random from the list of available World Bosses, but the same World Boss can’t spawn two times in the same cycle. A cycle is completed when all available World Bosses have spawned. The purpose is to have a World Boss rotation that avoids repetition.
World Bosses use Personal Loot instead of the default looting system, so any player from the same faction who tagged and defeated a World Boss is eligible for loot. Because World Bosses are designed to be contested between factions, this change ensures that players of the same faction do not have to compete against each other for the initial tag. Please note that Personal Loot is strictly exclusive to World Bosses and does not apply to any other encounters or instances.
At launch, the original six World Bosses of vanilla will be available.
- Lord Kazzak (Blasted Lands)
- Azuregos (Azshara)
- Emeriss (Feralas)
- Lethon (Hinterlands)
- Ysondre (Ashenvale)
- Taerar (Duskwood)
We are also considering possible future World Bosses, always listening to the community, for example turning Anachronos, located at the entrance to the Caverns of Time, into a World Boss. Many other areas of the world that do not have World Bosses are also being considered.
