How will Faction Wars work in Project Titan?

← Back to news

Faction Wars are World PvP events that can occur in any zone of Kalimdor or the Eastern Kingdoms, and they are contested between Horde and Alliance players for 1 hour. There will be one Faction War per day, and Faction Wars will not overlap with World Boss spawns, so players can do both types of content if they want.

Faction Wars work in cycles: the zone is randomly selected from all zones, but a zone cannot be selected again for a Faction War until the next cycle. If new zones are added to the game, they will be added to the Faction War rotation cycle.

When a Faction War occurs in one of the capital cities (Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, Exodar, Orgrimmar, Undercity, Thunderbluff or Silvermoon), members of the opposing faction will try to invade the city, because killing the faction leader in the city gives a huge reward. Faction leaders will not respawn until the Faction War ends in that zone. We are considering reducing the number of city guards that spawn, or their damage and health, during the event, so the invading faction is not at a huge disadvantage.

We are also actively considering ideas from the Overlord Addon and integrating them natively into the server. Community feedback on this subject will also be taken into account.

Faction Wars are designed to be a World PvP event that encourages massive PvP battles between Horde and Alliance players in a world where flying is not available. They are meant to be the most efficient way to farm Honor points and rank up to rank 14 in the PvP system. While a Faction War event is active in a zone:

  • Greatly increased honor and rank points
  • Removed resurrection sickness debuff when resurrecting in Angels.
  • Enforced PvP in the zone for all players
